Karlene Keogh, co-founder of the Foundation, is no stranger to helping at-risk women and children. As a single-mother, she struggled to provide routine and urgent medical care when her daughter was young. Once she established her career in insurance and started her own agency she has generously given of her time and mentored young women.
Karlene has served on several community boards including The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, Homeward Bound and Phoenix Rotary 100.

KHF believes in the power of partnership and collaboration. We fulfill our mission by working with nonprofit groups that have contact with at-risk populations and therefore avoid duplication of efforts. As of January 2008, greater than 49,000 Arizonans have been assisted (screened for eligibility, enrolled or referred) through our community partners during the past four years.
"Do a little. It means a lot", is not only our motto, it is our invitation to join us in making our vision a reality; All Arizona kids and families enjoying affordable healthcare.
How We Do It - Our Programs
Enrollment Assistance provides funds to nonprofit community organizations to facilitate efficient enrollment assistance for existing healthcare programs. Electronic submission of enrollment applications speeds-up the process for enrolling for public health programs.

Health-e-Kids, our newest program, is directed toward helping families who can't afford health insurance for their children. Through community outreach partners such as schools and other nonprofit groups, KHF provides trained staff and technology to inform and assist working-poor families determine if they are eligible for public healthcare programs like KidsCare.

Connecting all Powerful Partners (CAPP) is a regularly scheduled networking and collaboration-building luncheon for human services organizations that assist vulnerable and at-risk populations. By facilitating dialogue among a wide range of caring organizations, new opportunities for collaboration and referral are developed. Families-in-Crisis provides assistance to families who don't have the means to pay for necessary medical care or who are at risk of loosing insurance coverage. Sometimes the most cost effective means of providing access to healthcare is to pay insurance premiums for a few months, until a family can get reestablished, after a crisis. Speakers and Presentations
Understanding Health Insurance 101 is a highly informative presentation that can be offered to older students or adults who are confused or uncertain about their options for healthcare. Our trained specialists will cover the basics of private health insurance and public supported health programs like KidsCare and AHCCCS. For individuals who earn too much for public programs and who can not afford private insurance, information about alternatives is provided.
Service Club and Community Group Speakers are available. Our staff and volunteers are available to discuss healthcare issues, proposals and needs. Healthcare is often a confusing, emotional and politicized issue; our expert speakers will help your group understand the current national and local discussion of healthcare reform. We customize presentations to meet your needs.
